Everything You Need to Know About
Saucers Over Appalachia Festival
The history of UFO sightings and encounters in the Appalachian region stretches back for many decades and probably much further than recorded historical documents suggest. Cases in Bristol, VA/TN, and the surrounding area can be found throughout the Project Blue Book files.
In 1973, one of the largest UFO waves in history swept over the nation. In the autumn of that year, local newspapers were suddenly flooded with reports of unidentified craft and close encounters throughout Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee. These cases and the events leading up to the Great UFO Wave of 1973 are documented in the 2016 book Saucers Over Appalachia by local author and historian William Van Huss.
